Join FloCo to learn how pending legislation affects your public schools
The Florida Coalition for Thriving Public Schools (FloCo) is hosting two virtual sessions to discuss bills proposed this legislative session related to Florida public schools, and learn about their impacts if approved.
The first session will be this Friday, Jan. 30, at noon. The second is Monday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. Both sessions will last one hour.
Floridians are confronting an unprecedented legislative session that is rapidly reshaping public education — often without acknowledgment of public input. In Tallahassee, policy decisions are being advanced at a pace and scale that undermine local control, destabilize neighborhood schools, and strain already overburdened communities.
This session continues a pattern of accelerating privatization, weakened accountability, and budget choices that shift public goods away from public schools — while expecting families, educators, and students to absorb the consequences in real time. The speed at which these policies move leaves little room for communities to understand what’s happening, much less organize or respond before decisions are finalized.
During this informative session, participants can expect to learn:
— What’s moving fast in the 2026 legislative session — and why it matters
— How proposed policies impact your local school and community
— How to stay informed and take action
